However, Notes Writer – Take Good Notes! is from the same developer and appears to be a free, ad-supported version of TextEdit+. I got it years ago when it is was free, but these days it must be purchased. TextEdit+ is an alternative to the missing TextEdit word processor for iPhone and iPad and it is available in the app store for $5.99. That is so awkward you won’t want to do it. Notes are synced to the Mac, but then you would have to open Notes on the Mac, find the note, copy it, open TextEdit, open the document, then paste in the Note. One option available is to import it into the Notes app as a note, which is far from ideal. This means that you cannot work on TextEdit documents away from your Apple Mac. However, it is displayed on the iPhone in read-only mode and the document cannot be edited. On the iPhone for example, open the Files app and navigate to the TextEdit folder. The Notes app can be used to save bits of text and this is useful, but it cannot load and save files.

So it seems the onchange code is not firing at all. If I change another label, meant for debugging, inside the onchange code: it does not change. But now my labels do not change (they do if I put the code in the onselect property and click on the input). I personally use TextEdit all the time for quickly glancing at simple text documents, as a plain text viewer, basic word processing where the complete Pages functionality is not necessary, quick and dirty outlining, as a quick and simple HTML source viewer, and much more. So i thought I put a set (MyRecord locate.) in the onchange property of the text input.

When you want to write or copy and paste short passages of text, a lightweight app is quicker and easier to use than a full word processor. Not everyone uses TextEdit but it’s an under appreciated app on the Mac.

I am coding on a MacBook Pro 2016, with macOS 10.12.3, using XCode 8.2.1 and targeting iOS 10.2 universal. I must be doing some setting wrong, as everything looks right, but when run in the simulator the label texts do not change. Sometimes a lightweight app with just the basic features you need is preferable to a big feature-packed application. Im trying to localize my first app, before I set about doing them localized all as I rewrite them in Swift. Maybe that’s a slight exaggeration, but it is quick to start. You can be writing in TextEdit while Pages is still loading. But where is TextEdit for iOS? Use TextEdit+ instead.ĭo you use TextEdit on your Mac to create documents and text files? Pages is the obvious choice for creating documents, but you can’t beat TextEdit for creating simple documents because it is lightweight and fast. In stead now in every control, I do a lookup(table value(input.text)=id name) lookup(table value(input.text)=id breed) etc which seems like making it all slower but alas I have to live with that.TextEdit is a useful app on the Apple Mac and it can be used to create simple text text files to complex word processor documents. If(IsMatch(SearchBoxDocanummer.Text Digit & Digit & Hyphen & Digit & Digit & Hyphen & Digit & Digit & Digit & Digit) again and again.Īlso if I change the text of a searchbox and I want every control to dynamically react to what I type and those controls are fields of a record what I hoped that in the onchange I find the record and in the controls I would set: Myrecord.name and Myrecord.breed etc. In stead of this now in every control/object that depends on this I do the check like this

Using rich text in TextEdit, inserting tables and lists is simple, plus you have flexible options. And it’s handy if you want to create a table for an email or list in outline format. Specifically: if I have an input and I want the behaviour of certain controls to change according to the input: is it a date or is it a number? I would have hoped that in onchange I would change a variable based on the format of the current value (is it 99-99-9999 or not?) and have other controls react to this variable. I have abandonned the idea that onchange works like I am used to in other programming languages (something that triggers when someone changes the control) and tried to work around it.
